Featured Design Blog: The Storque

After putting the spotlight on Etsy in yesterday?s post, I explored the site a bit further to see what different sellers across the country had to offer. Learning about the Etsy community was really a treat for me. I entered into a community chat room and found a place for sellers to express their interests and passion for the work that they do. It was very refreshing to see that everyone was so supportive of everyone else?s handmade work as they passed on encouraging comments, visited personal websites, and added sellers to their Etsy ?favorites lists?.

Another great feature I found was the official Etsy blog entitled The Storque, a site chock full of style tips for men and women, ?Top 10 Lists? for back to school gear, gift ideas, handmade kids? challenges, and articles featuring the inspiration behind featured Etsy artists. The Storque is a great read because there is so much to learn about the world of handmade keepsakes and the culture behind each item. If anything, it will make you appreciate the love and dedication that is behind each stitch in any item you buy. In addition to highlighting artists? work, the blog serves as a ?How-To? center for sellers where they can learn how to effectively promote their store and read about successful collections that have made it big in the cyber world. Through my research, I have learned that Etsy is a unique marketplace with a supportive community, an infectious, creative vibe, and case in point; it has already inspired me to get a product line of my own out on the market!
