I've had my eye on the handsome little notebooks from Field Notes--a collaboration between Portland, Oregon's Draplin Design Company and Chicago's Coudal Partners--for some time now. Call them the American antidote to the sophisticated Euro vibe Moleskine goes for (if Picasso was a Moleskine man, you can easliy imagine Jeff Tweedy as a Field Notes fellow), and dig a design ethos that looks back to agricultural memo books.

Add to myYahoo!Sometimes I just want to want to work attentively without any disturbance, and the Rewrite Desk designed by GamFratesi is an awesome place to take your productivity to another level. This desk was awarded with Denmark?s Walk the Plank Award 2009 for excellence and craftsmanship in furniture. Showcased at GamFratesi?s solo show at The Danish Museum of Art and Design, the workstation features a cave-like shield that installs a big screen, upholstered and covered with textile to highlight its visual and acoustic aspects, so it can be used as a satellite desk wherever you like. The workstation by the Copenhagen-based designer combines the traditional form with modern technology, while a white lacquered metal box hides all the cables underneath the table, allowing a clutter-free workspace on the table. – Via – Dezeen

Add to myYahoo! The Cornered Coffee Table by Dylan Gold is a coffee table that encourages clean surface space by giving your magazines and table books a home. Here are a few words about this table from the website that sells this coffee table : “Take your average coffee table, construct one leg as a cross-section of a rotated cube and you get a table that values a clean surface area without losing a place to hold your favorite books and magazines. The Cornered coffee table embodies the inherent function of all coffee tables. ” Finally I think that this idea is pretty clever, but not at $1.900. – Via – Doubletakesblog

Add to myYahoo! These CD shelves were design by Arik Levy. The "ladder" concept works where the shelving sits against the wall much like how a ladder would on a house. These CD shelves are constructed of Dibond alumimun panels which provide stability and support to the 8 shelves which when full, can be quite heavy. Find the product: here.

I don?t know what I think about this. An alarm clock actually built into the bed sheet, yup that?s the Melted Clock. This touch sensitive alarm clock, speakers, and control are built into the sheet, with three control icons embroidered to it. It?s unclear to me if these are actually available yet, but I do find it interesting they claim to be washable. I guess from a practical point of view it makes some sense, but do I really want my alarm clock in my bed right next to my head – all the time as a constant reminder that soon it will be time to wake up? Probably not. Cool concept though. See more from designer Florian Schärfer here.
